CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - Irrigation districts in Pinal County are bracing for a reduction in Central Arizona Project water in the coming year.

The Casa Grande Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/2gDWCdD) that about 100,000 acre-feet is scheduled to be reduced from the special source of excess Colorado River water distributed, mostly to irrigation districts in Pinal County.

Brian Betcher, manager of Maricopa-Stanfield Irrigation and Drainage District, says the reductions have been planned for over a decade and the district will adjust accordingly to meet the needs of its agricultural users.

The district has a large network of canals and pipelines in place to deliver a mix of surface and groundwater to its many account holders.
