SAGINAW, Mich. (AP) - Two endangered wolves are new additions to the Saginaw Children’s Zoo at Celebration Square.
The Saginaw News reports (https://bit.ly/2hlHJOt ) that Izzy and Rachel, 1-year-old sister Mexican wolves from the grey wolf subspecies, were moved from the Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka, Missouri.
Zoo officials say they’re a little shy, spending much of their time hiding behind trees in their exhibit, but they should be getting more comfortable.
The zoo’s Executive Director Nancy Parker thanks those who helped raise funds for the cost of transporting the wolves. Hundreds of people donated.
The zoo opens for the season to the general public April 22, but members will get to see the new wolves during an April 15 event.
