The Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro thus far have gotten loads of negative press over poor planning, incomplete construction, unsanitary Olympic venue conditions and crime. So you can hardly blame organizers for showcasing some of the country’s most famous, and beautiful, exports in the torch relay.
Brazilian supermodels Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio separately had the honor recently of carrying the Olympic torch in its last legs before reaching Rio, Entertainment Tonight reported on Friday.
The experience was particularly emotional for Ms. Lima, a veteran of the Victoria’s Secret catwalk. She “teared up as she carried the torch through Rio,” on Thursday, ET explained. “I am grateful to experience this incredible honor and dream to carry the Olympic torch, so humbled to be carrying in my home country Brazil,” the supermodel wrote in an Instagram post showing a beaming Ms. Lima holding the torch aloft.
On Friday, Ms. Ambrosio had her turn, bringing her kids along to celebrate the honor. “So honored and excited to carry the #Olympic torch in my home country,” she wrote in a photo caption showing her holding the torch with the aid of her son Noah and daughter Anja.
