WASHINGTON — The Washington Monument is re-opening after being closed for more than a day because of problems with its elevator.

The National Park Service says in a statement that the monument will re-open at 9 a.m. Monday after closing early on Saturday night and being closed all day on Sunday.

The park service says the closure was a result of a tripped breaker that was caused by a voltage drop of incoming power to the monument.

The monument was closed for nearly a week in July because of elevator problems.
