Sen. Bernard Sanders has cut a double-digit deficit to 2016 Democratic presidential rival Hillary Clinton in California down to 6 points, according to a poll released Thursday.

Mrs. Clinton led Mr. Sanders by 6 points, 47 percent to 41 percent, in the Field Poll.

Mrs. Clinton had leads among voters ages 40 or older, while Mr. Sanders had a 25-point lead among people in their 30s, and has the support of nearly eight in 10 voters between the ages of 18 and 29.

Mrs. Clinton had a 17-point lead among women, while Mr. Sanders had an 8-point lead among men.

In a Field Poll released in early January, Mrs. Clinton had led by 11 points, 46 percent to 35 percent.

Field also released a survey this week showing GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump with a 7-point lead over Sen. Ted Cruz in the state, 39 percent to 32 percent. Ohio Gov. John Kasich was in third at 18 percent.

Voters head to the polls in California on June 7. There are 172 GOP delegates up for grabs, and a total of close to 550 in the state on the Democratic side.
