(2) NRB President Joins SBC President in Calling for Prayer to Awaken America
(3) A few days ago we saw that Will Ferrell was to play Reagan in a movie that was not described in the news that day. Turns out, the movie was a satirical comedy of Reagan as afflicted by Alzheimers. Obviously, this was not something worth applauding.
So, Patti Davis, Ronald Reagan’s daughter, pens open letter to Will Ferrell
And John Heubusch, Executive Direct of The Reagan Foundation, released a statement:
“Anyone supporting the idea of such a movie ought to first familiarize themselves with the remarkable pain and anguish that families afflicted with Alzheimer’s are visited with every day. It’s a tragedy that one in every nine families in America will be visited with and we find it disgusting that such a film would even be considered by Mr. Ferrell or anyone else.”
So, the news out today was good: Will Ferrell pulls out of Reagan Alzheimer’s comedy
I’m glad Ferrell was responsive but did it really take the PR uproar for him to have discernment? Is such a reversal actually “discernment” … or just covering his career-backside?
(4) Latino Leader Samuel Rodriguez: Trump Is Not a Racist (CBN)
The head of the nation’s largest Latino evangelical organization told CBN News Thursday that Donald Trump is not a racist.
“That’s just hyperbole,” said the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC). “That’s hyperbole from the liberal media for the purpose of attempting to paint a facist sort of racist moniker on Donald Trump that I do not believe is accurate whatsoever.”
Rodriguez said the problem is that Trump’s rhetoric on immigration is counter-productive.
Trump has talked about Mexican immigrants in derogatory terms since he started his campaign, calling some of them “rapists,” “criminals” and “drug dealers” but refuting all along that he’s a racist. Many Latino groups, however, have denounced him for his characterizations.
Rodriguez told CBN News that Trump’s comments on Latino immigrants have been incorrect, noting that while some are criminals, most are “God-fearing, beautiful people.”
(5) When God Uses Target (AFA)
Nothing seems to be able to elicit a sense of moral indignation from the vast majority of decent common sense Americans. The rise of the porn industry didn’t do it. The indecency on prime time television hasn’t caused a broad sense of moral outrage. The Supreme Court decision to nullify the votes of tens of millions of Americans in more than 30 states who voted to define marriage as between one man and one woman, opting instead to force same sex marriage on the whole country didn’t do it either. Even the Planned Parenthood scandal couldn’t elicit a voice of national shame and condemnation for such blatant and egregious sin.
But along comes Target. …
