OPINION:
When presidential contender Ben Carson stated recently that he would not approve of electing a Muslim as president of the United States, both Republican and Democrat politicians jumped on him. Challenger Ted Cruz reminded him that the U.S. Constitution itself says there shall be no religious test for public office. Hillary Rodham Clinton used the same, argument, and Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, called on Dr. Carson to apologize to American Muslims, saying that America is not “owned” by any one religion.
But strangely, all of Dr. Carson’s critics have overlooked Dr. Carson’s explanation that it is Muslim law that is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution. Muslim law is Shariah law. No one who adheres to Shariah law could honestly take the oath of office that a U.S. president makes to uphold and defend the Constitution. Shariah law is incompatible with the Constitution.
