ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Two veterans from Lenawee County are expected to be in Ann Arbor this week to receive bicycles at a Veterans Administration hospital.
The VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System says the Thursday afternoon event involves a program called “Wheels for Warriors - Michigan.”
The health system says the program was developed this spring through an AmeriCorps and Michigan Region 10 Veterans Community Action Team collaboration to help address transportation needs of veterans. It’s already given 15 bikes to veterans.
The health system says the bikes help veterans hold jobs, get to medical appointments, attend classes and improve their health through exercise.
