Vice President Joseph R. Biden said he’s “disappointed” with Republican front-runner Donald Trump’s handling of immigration.

“I’m disappointed in Donald Trump,” Mr. Biden said in an interview on “60 Minutes” broadcast Sunday night. “I know what a showman and all that he is. But I really, I really don’t think it’s healthy and I hope he reconsiders this sort of attack on all immigrants. I think that is, I think that is beneath the country.”

The vice president added, “I hope he really doesn’t believe it.”

The Republican front-runner, who will take part in the next GOP debate in Colorado Wednesday night, has been critical of the Obama administration for accepting “criminals” from Mexico and is vowing to build a wall on the border.

The vice president, who announced last week that he won’t seek the Democratic nomination in 2016, also said he wasn’t criticizing Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton when he called on candidates in both parties to stop thinking of each other as “enemies.” Mrs. Clinton had called Republicans her enemies in the first Democratic debate.

“That wasn’t directed at Hillary,” Mr. Biden said. “That … that was a reference to Washington. All of Washington. She was being more humorous than she was direct about that. I do know it’s the view of many people. … How in God’s name can we govern this country … if we view the opposition as an enemy?”
