PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Nearly a year after being put on paid leave, an attorney for a Portland elementary principal says she’s been fired.
Former Kelly Elementary Principal Marti Diaz’s dismissal was approved by unanimous vote Tuesday although the Portland Public Schools Board of Education did not name the person.
The Oregonian reports (https://goo.gl/2pjz2L) Diaz’s attorney Craig Crispin said he had been advised the board would consider terminating her Tuesday. Crispin says he plans to file a lawsuit challenging the decision.
Diaz was placed on leave after three principals said she hit her partner while the group was on a camping trip. Prosecutors never charged Diaz with a crime in part because no one witnessed the altercation and principals waited 11 days before going to police.
The district states in documents the situation warrants the firing regardless.
