OPINION:
It’s been another tough week for the Democrats. First even loyalist Steve Croft could not save the president from his bubbling ideological delusions on “60 Minutes.” Then we had the first Democratic presidential debate, in which the prime players were a self-proclaimed socialist and an individual who thinks having been married to a former president and traveling the world as a failed secretary of state qualify her for the job.
The first of these candidates, Bernie Sanders, is laughable, while the more serious yet equally unqualified second candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton, would be under indictment for government crimes if not under the shield of a Democratic president.
While the media has attempted to ridicule leading Republican candidates for their stances on issues, these Democrats have remained silent on important issues. Do they have a program to get 46 million people off food stamps? Do they put forth ideas to stop the decline in median income? Do they have a plan to stop the unfettered flow of illegal immigrants across or southern boarder? Are they concerned that for the first time since the 1950s, onerous government regulations are resulting in more small businesses shutting down than starting up?
Likewise, they have offered no solutions to the crime infestation and poverty in our major cities and no plan to defeat the Islamic State. Like Mr. Obama, they are waiting for some phantom community of nations to step in and stop the terrorist group.
They have their own programs, though. Under the direction of the Environmental Protection Agency they propose to reduce our use of fossil fuels without regard for either national security or the impact on the U.S. economy. They stand united for bigger government, more taxes on the rich and the reduction of religious liberty. And like our current president, they close their eyes to our economy on the brink of another recession and fail to see the danger of Islamic radicalism or Russian and Iranian dominance in the Middle East.
