The chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign said Wednesday that Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont helped the Clinton camp — and himself — when he told Mrs. Clinton at Tuesday’s Democratic presidential debate that the American people are “sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails.”
“Bernie — I thought he was quite gracious,” Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta said on CNN’s “New Day.” “But I thought he was also voicing the frustration of many Democrats.
“They want to hear about their lives and what’s going on in them, so I think he helped us, I think, but he also helped himself ’cause he really did voice what was going on,” Mr. Podesta said.
Mrs. Clinton acknowledged she made a “mistake” in setting up the private server as secretary of state, rather than using a standard State.gov account, but the issue has dogged her on the campaign trail for months.
