Contrary to critics at Ohio State University, Madison Gesiotto’s op-ed of last month defending black American children killed by abortionists is the very opposite of racist (“The number one killer of black Americans,” Web, Oct. 23). The critics, however, are guilty of age discrimination.

Abortion is a dicey subject precisely because it is a matter of life and death. We have been lied to for so many years about abortion that we don’t want to know the truth. Miss Gesiotto has done her job well as a journalist and has written the truth, ugly as it is. Men and women who have fallen for the lies that contraception and abortion will make us happy are better off knowing the truth so that they and the rest of us can start turning around and doing what we need to do to make our lives better.

In my case, that meant repentance. I also find healing in helping pregnant women in need and pointing men and women who have been involved in aborting their child to the website www.rachelsvineyard.org. Healing is possible.
