Kathryn Sargent tailors to D.C.’s elite

British designer Kathryn Sargent aims to dress up the capital. The London-based designer recently came to the District for a “Tailored Tea” and “Wine and Design” event at The Jefferson Washington D.C. in Northwest. Ms. Sargent showed off her wares and explained the importance of a bespoke tailored suit for doing business in the District, be it for government, business or simply for social occasions.

Ms. Sargent is Savile Row’s first female head of bespoke tailoring, and as such is working hard to not become bogged down in what is often seen as an exclusively boys’ club.

In case you missed the event, Ms. Sargent will be returning to the District in 2016 with more options and to discuss bespoke tailoring. The Jefferson will be hosting her for “Tailored Weekends” Feb. 25–28, June 17–19 and Nov. 18–20, wherein hotel guests can taste wine while receiving a personalized consultation with the designer.
