November is “National Novel Writing Month” (Tweeted as #NaNoWriMo) or “National Non Fiction Writing Month” (#NaNonFiWriMo).
Writers and would-be wordsmiths all over the world have committed themselves to sitting down at their keyboards, blocking out distractions (as much as possible), and producing some text!
In conjunction with this emphasis on writing, we’ve interviewed bestselling authors, literary agents, publishers, editors, writing coaches, literary professors, and journalists—people who know all about the craft and business of writing.
Today we get to hear from Adam Bellow, a Vice President at HarperCollins Publishing. He has decades of work at major publishing houses, and has led in the acquisition and production of a library full of great nonfiction—and now even fiction too (see BroadsideBooks.net or LibertyIslandMag.com).
Adam’s father, Saul, was one of the most acclaimed novelists of the 20th century. This, combined with the maternal instincts of Adam’s mother to keep the TV away but good books close at hand, led Adam into intellectual and literary pursuits from an early age. His skill in acquisitions and editing is well known throughout the industry.
Disclaimer: HarperCollins, one of the five largest publishers in the world, has over 30 book imprints, including the Thomas Nelson and W Publishing Group imprints that have published my books.Â
