An Indiana woman was arrested Sunday after she stabbed another woman in the eye with a fork over the last rib at a family barbecue in Muncie, police said.
Sabrina A. Davis, 45, was a guest at another family’s gathering when the homeowner’s daughter became upset over Ms. Davis “taking the last rib from the kitchen,” according to an affidavit obtained by the Muncie Star Press.
The daughter told police that after she confronted Ms. Davis “about taking all the food,” Ms. Davis took a fork she had been using to take meat from a pan and stabbed her in the left eye with it.
The victim had “at least two small lacerations on her left eyelid” and her eye was “swollen and bloodshot,” the affidavit said.
Ms. Davis told police that she was acting in self defense, because the victim was brandishing a knife, the Star Press reported.
A witness said that after the victim was stabbed, she “grabbed a knife from the counter and was trying to get to Davis.”
Ms. Davis confirmed “the dispute was over the last rib in a pan,” Officer Amy Kesler wrote.
Ms. Davis was charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
