OPINION:
Your recent article on sudden infant death syndrome cites a study that places blame for these deaths on the high altitude in Colorado (“Study: High altitude may boost babies’ risks for SIDS deaths,” Web, May 25).
These babies are not dying because of lowered oxygen levels at the higher altitude, but most likely from an insufficient supply of vitamin C in their systems both before and after birth.
I’m not making this up. Just do an Internet search on “SIDS Vitamin C Dr. Kalokerino” and you will find more information than you can likely handle.
The Times needs a nutritional consultant on-staff to keep some balance in these type of stories. You are repeating the Big Pharma myth hook, line and sinker.
