Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who has surged in recent polling on the possible 2016 GOP presidential field, trails Democratic frontrunner and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton by 5 points in a head-to-head match-up — closer than two other possible Republican candidates.
Mrs. Clinton leads Mr. Walker, 46 percent to 41 percent, in the Rasmussen poll, while 8 percent prefer someone else and 6 percent are undecided.
Likely U.S. voters prefer Mrs. Clinton by larger margins over former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who is also considering a run, and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who has launched a presidential exploratory committee.
She leads Mr. Bush by 9 points, 45 percent to 36 percent, with 12 percent preferring another candidate in that match-up and 7 percent undecided. And she leads Mr. Carson by 11 points, 47 percent to 36 percent, with 8 percent preferring someone else and 10 percent undecided.
The survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted Feb. 28-March 1 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
