PHILADELPHIA — Police are crediting a man waiting for a haircut at a West Philadelphia barbershop with saving others from harm when he fatally shot a gunman who threatened a barber and fired on customers.
Police say the customer interceded in a fight at Falah Barber Shop around 3 p.m. Sunday. They say the man who was killed pulled a gun and started shooting after a barber told him to calm down.
Police say the customer struck 40-year-old Warren Edwards three times in the chest and once in the face. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police say the customer fled but later turned himself in. They didn’t release his name. They say he’s a legal gun owner and appeared to act in self-defense. It’s not likely he’ll face charges.
