LAUREL, Md. (AP) - Interstate 95 is closed in both directions about 5 miles north of the Capital Beltway in Maryland after officials say a tanker truck carrying bio-diesel fuel overturned across southbound lanes.

The tanker overturned Tuesday morning south of state Route 198 near Laurel. Local media are showing aerial shots of the tanker lying across four lanes and pushing into jersey barrier walls along the median.

Prince George’s County fire officials say two people, including the tanker driver, were evaluated, but didn’t need to be taken to a hospital. The highway is expected to remain closed for hours while crews clean up about 400 gallons of spilled fuel.

State Highway Administration spokesman David Buck says southbound traffic is being diverted at Route 198. He urged northbound motorists to use other northbound routes.
