A national conversation on the Confederate flag succeeded at doing something Boss Hogg never could: bringing down the “General Lee.”

Warner Bros. has confirmed that “The Dukes of Hazzard” merchandise will no longer feature the Confederate flag.

“Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the confederate flag on its roof — as it was seen in the TV series. We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories,” a spokesman for the company told the entertainment website Vulture on Tuesday.

A national debate on where and when the Confederate flag should be used was sparked after nine members of the historically black Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in South Carolina were murdered last week. Pressure to remove the flag from the S.C. state capitol prompted businesses such as Wal-Mart and Amazon to discontinue selling products featuring the image.

“Hazzard”-related merchandise such as T-shirts and lunchboxes will likely still be available, just not with a visible Confederate flag, Vulture reported.

The popular television show ran from 1979 to 1985. A movie based on the television show was also released in 2005.
