Rep. Elijah E. Cummings’ row home in west Baltimore caught fire Tuesday morning, officials said.
The Maryland Democrat was in Washington at the time, an aide said. No one was at home at the time of the fire and no one was injured, The Baltimore Sun reported.
Firefighters were called to a one-alarm blaze in the 2000 block of Madison Avenue at 10:42 a.m., where they found smoke coming from the roof, according to department spokesman Samuel Johnson Jr. The fire was under control by 11 a.m., The Sun reported.
The cause remains under investigation.
