Sex invariably sells, and the producers of the show “Awkward Sex… and the City” are hoping to sell tickets.

The show is quasi-confessional theater, with performers—many of whom are standup comedians—relating to the audience their most embarrassing, most enlightening moments when the lights went off. The all-female cast includes Natalie Wall, Ginny Liese (“The Shame Game”), Meghan O’Malley (“The PIT”), Carly Ann Filbin (“Upright Citizens Brigade”), Jamie LeeLo (“Brunch Night! with Jamie LeeLo”),Emmy Harrington (HBO, “Reno! 911”), and SJ Son (“The Shame Game”).

The New York-based, uh, sextet is sure to make the audience both laugh and squirm, with harrowing—and sometimes horrifying—tales of the pitfalls of modern dating. Needless to say, viewing discretion is advised. (Probably best to leave junior at home with “Frozen” on DVD, but we don’t judge around here.)

The show goes up Friday at The Bier Baron Tavern in Northwest. Tickets are available, but act soon, as the group has sold out during previous District appearances.
