Congress and President Obama should focus on defending against possible nuclear-missile attacks by expanding and upgrading our Ground-based Midcourse Defense Missile System (GMD). It is our best homeland defense against missile strikes and has proved reliable in many tests and experiments.

The GMD should be fully funded with new radars and sensors. The system needs to be upgraded to defeat enemy countermeasures, decoys and maneuvering warheads. More missiles are needed at West Coast bases. Congress must block and reject any legislation, regulation or resolution that would further cut America’s national defense, hand over U.S. sovereignty to the United Nations or give foreign aid to our enemies. Its members must work with Republican House and Senate majorities to rebuild our armed forces and nuclear deterrent.

Mr. Obama’s political views blame the United States for evil in the world. The president therefore promised “radical transformation” to make our country pay for slavery, racism, colonialism and imperialism. His policies have been to tear down America’s status as a superpower and to diminish our influence around the globe. His submission and appeasement have created weakness and chaos, which threaten our country and interests overseas.

It is time to stop the policies that have turned our country into a defenseless nation without allies and surrounded by enemies. Finally, the U.S.missile defenses, removed from Poland and the Czech Republic to please Russia in 2009, should be returned.
