Six in 10 Americans say they’re dissatisfied with the level of immigration into the United States, as House Republicans think about joining the legal fight over President Obama’s executive actions on the issue.

The 60 percent dissatisfaction level is an increase of 6 percentage points from 2014 but lower than the 2008 high of 72 percent, Gallup said. One-third of Americans are satisfied with the current immigration levels.

Eighty-four percent of self-identified Republicans are dissatisfied, compared to 54 percent of independents and 44 percent of Democrats. Dissatisfaction along Republicans increased by 19 percentage points compared to last year, and it increased by eight points among Democrats.

The survey of 804 adults was taken Jan. 5-8 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
