Chevy Chase residents awoke on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to find a racial epithet spray-painted on the garage door of a neighborhood home.
Montgomery County police are investigating the graffiti as a “hate incident.”
The words “N——- go home” were discovered on the garage door of a home in the 3300 block of Glenmoor Drive at 9:30 a.m. Monday. A neighbor noticed the epithet on the home and alerted the residents who live there, county police officials said. Together they removed the spray paint.
Police believe whoever spray-painted the home did so between 2 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday.
Police officials said there have not been any other reports of vandalism or similar incidents in the neighborhood.
