A photo shoot for a sports utility vehicle ended up capturing much more than editors for a car magazine anticipated: a secret Russian submarine.

“Top Gear Russia” put together a photo shoot for the Mercedes-Benz GL450 and accidentally picked up evidence of a classified deep-water submarine known as the AC-12 Project.

The military website Defense Tech reported Jan. 13 that the photo of the submarine, which was snapped along on the shores of the White Sea, may be the highest quality publicly available image of the vessel.

News of the vessel’s disclosure was also covered by the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, a Moscow-based think tank, Defense Tech reported. The submarine, nicknamed “Losharik,” is part of Russia’s Northern Fleet.
