President Obama’s approval rating has ticked up to 46 percent, rising 7 points since October and is now at the level it was a year ago, according to a poll for CBS News.

The bump comes largely from his own party and independents. By comparison, Mr. Obama’s approval rating is higher than that of former President George W. Bush at a similar point in his presidency — 28 percent — but lower than former Presidents Ronald Reagan (52 percent) and Bill Clinton (65 percent), CBS reported.

The survey was conducted Jan. 9-12 among 1,001 adults and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
