Obamacare enrollment on the federal exchange has reached nearly 6.8 million, according to administration data released Wednesday that has Florida leading the way with about 1.2 million signups.

The figures reflect enrollment through Friday in the 37 states that use HealthCare.gov.

Uninsured Americans have one more month to enroll, and experience shows that many enrollees flood the law’s insurance exchanges shortly before deadlines.

“If you don’t enroll by Feb. 15, then you may have to wait until next year to sign up for affordable coverage,” Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell said.

The administration this week is calling on Latinos, a key constituency with a high proportion of uninsured people, to check out the exchanges.

Overall, the administration hopes to attract 9.1 million enrollees for 2015 — a more modest goal than congressional budget estimates of 13 million.
