Fort Hood soldier on leave from Ebola quarantine found dead

A Fort Hood, Texas, soldier who was granted emergency leave from a 21-day Ebola quarantine in West Africa has been found dead outside his home.

The unidentified soldier had just returned to the U.S. and was on “controlled monitoring” at the time of his death, Military Times reported.

Test are being performed on his body at this time, the Times reported.

Images of a hazardous-materials crew outside the soldier’s home were tweeted by a reporter for the local NBC affiliate.

Fort Hood officials said “there is no indication of the Ebola virus disease” as the cause of death, the Times reported.

The soldier, along with 86 other troops, returned Jan. 7 from West Africa.
