OPINION:
Clifford May’s Feb. 17 op-ed, “The ideology whose name presidents dare not speak,” joins the hundreds of other bells ringing the truth about Islam. Mr. May writes, “Anxious not to give offense to peace-loving Muslims, we’ve refused to identify — much less seriously examine — the ideology of bellicose Muslims, those waging what they call a jihad against infidels.” This is a partly true remark. History tells a different story, one that shows Islam to be just what the “radical Islamists” are showing the world today.
Sometime between A.D. 600 and 700, Islam subjugated Mecca and Islam became the major power in the region. Tribes and cities had no choice but to swear their allegiance to it. The people of that belief acted then as they act now — with the ancient barbaric behavior that their leader, Muhammad, demanded of them. I believe there is no “radical Islam”; there is simply Islam. It is what it is. The Muslims’ ancient caliphate was lost to them, and the battle to win it back has been going on through time.
History cannot be rewritten. The “moderate Muslim” is print nomenclature. Islam will have a hard time finding a place in the free world. Many will die while Islam tries to rebuild the cult of Muhammad. However, freedom will prevail.
