“Birdman,” the behind-the-scenes showbiz black comedy, won best picture at the 87th annual Academy Awards ceremony Sunday.

The film, which also picked up an Oscar for best director, was considered a front-runner.

Star Michael Keaton, nominated for best actor — his first nomination in a lengthy career — lost for best actor to Eddie Redmayne for “The Theory of Everything.”
