Fox News has suspended two contributors for using profanity when discussing President Obama’s address Sunday to reassure the nation about the administration’s efforts to combat Islamic State terrorists.
After the speech, retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters called Mr. Obama a “pussy” on Fox Business. Actress Stacey Dash used a profane expletive on Fox News’ daytime talk show “Outnumbered.”
They were suspended for two weeks, the network announced Monday.
Mr. Peters railed against Mr. Obama for pleading with Americans not to give into their fears.
“Look Mr. President, we’re not afraid, we’re angry, we’re pissed off, we’re furious. We want you to react, we want you to do something. You’re afraid. I mean, this guy is such a total pussy, it’s stunning,” he said.
The show’s host, Stuart Varney, said he could tell Mr. Peters “super angry,” but admonished him using foul language.
Ms. Dash, who appeared in the movie “Clueless” and has been a Fox News contributor since 2014, said Mr. Obama’s speech was an “epic fail” but then used stronger language to describe the president’s lack of concern for the country.
“I feel like he could give a s—-, excuse me, like he could care less. He could care less,” she said.
In announcing the suspensions Monday, Fox senior executive vice president Bill Shine called the comments “completely inappropriate and unacceptable for our air.”
“Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel do not condone the use of such language, and have suspended both Peters and Dash for two weeks,” he said.
