First lady Michelle Obama has made a rap video about the importance of going to college.

The video, released Thursday, shows Mrs. Obama with “Saturday Night Live” star Jay Pharoah in several scenes in and around the White House, singing and dancing to promote the message, “Go to College.”

“South Side Chicago, we all know,” the first lady raps. “We had to do overtime every night to make it tomorrow.”

She goes on, “And everyone could really make their dream come true. Hey kid, listenin’ in Michigan, that could be you.”

The video also shows a portrait of George Washington with his lips moving, while Mr. Pharoah’s voiceover is saying, “Better make room, we coming!”

The video is part of Mrs. Obama’s “Better Make Room” and “Reach Higher” campaigns, which promote higher education for teenagers.
