Metro has temporarily discontinued service on part of a bus line in southeast Washington after a rider was shot by someone outside.
Metro spokeswoman Sherri Ly announced Monday that buses will avoid nighttime stops for one week on the 2400 block of Elvans Road SE, where the shooting occurred on Friday night.
Ms. Ly says the passenger who was struck by a bullet that someone fired at the bus did not seem to be the intended target.
The victim ran from the Garfield-Anacostia Loop Line bus and was found outside an apartment complex. He was rushed to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
No one has been arrested for shooting at the bus. Metro Transit Police are reviewing surveillance footage.
