More than seven in 10 voters in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania would not like President Obama to serve a third term if he could run again in 2016, according to results from a Quinnipiac University poll released Monday.

Seventy-one percent of voters in Florida, 72 percent of voters in Ohio and 74 percent of voters in Pennsylvania said they would not like to see Mr. Obama serve as president for a third term if he could. About a quarter of voters in each state said they would like to see that.

Mr. Obama recently said he thought if he ran again, he could win.

But his approval rating is underwater in each state as well. He has a negative 41 percent/56 percent split in Florida and Pennsylvania and a negative 42 percent/54 percent split in Ohio.

About six in 10 voters in each state also said they oppose the nuclear deal with Iran that the White House has been lobbying members of Congress on, and strong majorities said they think the deal would make the world less safe.

From Aug. 7-18, Quinnipiac University surveyed:

• 1,093 Florida voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points;

• 1,096 Ohio voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points;
