Authorities in Italy said Friday that an al Qaeda terror ring has been broken up.

Police arrested 20 people, two of which were allegedly bodyguards of deceased terror leader Osama bin Laden.

One suspect in Sardinia is suspected of being tied to plans to possibly target the Holy See in a suicide bombing, BBC reported.



The network reported that the arrested individuals are allegedly tied to a 2009 bombing in Peshawar, Pakistan.
