PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota’s national parks will open their gates to visitors Saturday at no cost as the National Park Service observes National Public Lands Day.
South Dakota is home to six National Park Service units.
The Park Service is waiving entrance fees but visitors may still have to pay of services like camping and tours.
The units in South Dakota are Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Minuteman Missile National Historic Site and Missouri National Recreational River.
The Rapid City Journal reports that Wind Cave National Park and Jewel Cave National Monument will also host volunteer projects on Saturday.
