Every sane person should fear the leftist movement in America.
The lunacy that is modern liberalism was on full display this past weekend with the Al Gore fan club having a rally in downtown New York. The Earth is warming they shriek! The metrological records beg to disagree.
The Earth has not warmed at all in the last 18 years.
There is a difference between Al Gore and a television evangelist begging for money because God told him he would die if he didn’t raise millions. The televangelist is much more honest than Al Gore.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was at the event over the weekend. It is hard to believe that his uncle, the late President John F. Kennedy once said, “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”
RFK Jr. announced over the weekend that those who disagreed with him about global warming should be punished. “I wish there were a law you could punish them with,” he said.
RFK Jr. is not some lone lunatic voice, crying in the wilderness. Among the far left, there is this insatiable desire to destroy anyone who disagrees with them.
A number of liberals have called for the criminal prosecution and imprisonment of those who dare to disagree with liberal orthodoxy. Alleged scientist David Suzuki back in May called for “climate deniers” to be “thrown in the slammer.”
Gawker’s Adam Weinstein called for arresting people like Rush Limbaugh and those at Americans for Prosperity.
The crime these people were to be arrested for?
Having the intelligence to disagree with liberals.
Unfortunately this is the default position of liberals. They do not want to debate issues. Anyone with three functioning brain cells can figure out why. As the late Andrew Breitbart once said, when facing some liberals, “Your ideas suck and so do you!”
No one likes liberal ideas. $5- or $10-a-gallon gas?
No.
A government bureaucrat controlling a person’s every decision?
No.
The problem is the left always wants to destroy their opposition. In the 1990s, the Clintons were busy decrying the “politics of personal destruction.” Yet, no one was better at it back then than the Clinton machine.
There is a reason why left-wing and socialist regimes first remove freedom of speech. Socialist regimes do exactly what RFK Jr. wants done. In his favorite former nation, the old Soviet Union, anyone who dared to disagree was at best sent to the Gulag and at worst shot.
In China and Southeast Asia, millions died in “re-education camps.” They dared to hold a different opinion.
George Washington once said, “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”
The left is so anxious to quash freedom of speech, the only obvious conclusion is they do want us led, dumb and silent to the slaughter.
