NEW YORK (AP) — The governor says New York is acting with “the utmost precaution” following a report of a possible plot against U.S. subway systems.
Iraq’s prime minister said Thursday that captive militants had told his country’s intelligence agents about an alleged plot targeting subway systems in the U.S. and Paris.
But American and French government officials said they were not aware of any plot.
The news comes a day after Cuomo and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced increased security across their states. They said it’s a precaution due to increasingly active terrorist groups overseas.
Those measures include more uniformed officers at transit hubs and on trains. Security also is being increased at the area’s bridges, tunnels and ports.
