Actor Stephen Collins, who played a minister and father on the wholesome family show “7th Heaven,” has resigned from his position on the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild amid allegations of child molestation.
A representative for SAG/AFTRA told TMZ that Mr. Collins resigned Tuesday, prior to his three-year term coming to an end.
The actor was also fired from “Ted 2” Tuesday morning, and was wiped from the website of the Committee For Stress-Free Schools, where he had been a co-director, TMZ said.
The New York Police Department has opened an investigation involving sexual contact with multiple children after TMZ reported Tuesday that it obtained an audio recording of Mr. Collins admitting to his estranged wife in 2012 that he had molested “and/or exposed himself to several underage girls years before.”
The recording reportedly includes Mr. Collins saying during a therapy session that he exposed himself to a girl in New York at least three times, when she was 11 years old, 12 and 13.
Mr. Collins also admitted he exposed himself to other girls who were underage, TMZ reported.
