RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A group of nuns who tour the country talking about various social justice issues is coming to Raleigh in support of voting rights.
Nuns on the Bus will hold a rally Saturday at the North Carolina State Capitol. The nuns will be joined by the Rev. William Barber of the state NAACP and Marybe McMillian of the state AFL-CIO.
The rally is part of the “We the People, We the Voters” bus tour organized by NETWORK, a national Catholic social justice lobbying group. The group began its tour Sept. 17 in Des Moines and will stop at 75 events in 36 cities this year.
In previous years, Nuns on the Bus have toured to draw attention to poverty issues and in support of Medicaid expansion and immigration reform.
