OPINION:
When I use the term “Ebola crisis,” I am not suggesting Ebola is a health crisis within U.S. borders. Rather, I am referring to the current administration’s apparent lying, incompetence and outright disregard for American lives and well-being, including the lives and well-being of medical professionals, health-care workers, first responders and other Americans who may or may not have been affected or infected with Ebola because of the Obama administration’s complete bungling of this precarious situation.
What proponents and critics of newly appointed “Ebola czar” Ron Klain have to understand is that the World Health Organization wanted this position created, presumably to improve the botched handling of the Ebola crisis here in the United States (“Ron Klain named Ebola czar by President Obama,” Web, Oct. 17). It is perfectly understandable why President Obama has appointed a lawyer to that position.
In light of the many legal ramifications Mr. Obama’s administration is facing because of its botched handling of the situation, the numbers of plaintiffs and lawyers (not to mention the numerous congressional oversight committee members in front of whom the “czar” will be required to testify) that will be lining up to demand the accountability and impending incarceration of those responsible will be extensive indeed.
Who else would a president with a track record of seeking to displace blame, responsibility and accountability choose as Ebola “czar” but a lawyer, especially since the lawyers who currently run cover for Mr. Obama at the Department of Justice are on the way out? It’s not you, your family or your health and well-being this president is concerned about.
