OPINION:
While the nation focuses on Ebola and the Islamic State, little attention is paid to Enterovirus EV-D68, which may have been responsible for seven deaths to date. Our children are the primary victims of this deadly and debilitating disease, which affects the respiratory system, especially in those children with asthmatic conditions.
The almost-spontaneous outbreak in 46 states and Washington, D.C., occurred from mid-August through Oct. 15. Unlike other childhood diseases that have occurred in the past, Enterovirus seems to have appeared spontaneously across the nation rather than via a localized outbreak which then migrates across the country.
Suspiciously, the Centers for Disease Control and the Obama administration have not addressed this “spontaneity” anomaly. Are they again hiding information from the public? Is it a coincidence that this outbreak occurred at the same time the government was moving 60,000-plus illegal children around the country? These are the same children that were shipped here from Central America in crowded buses and trains and then jammed into containment areas for weeks while awaiting relocation to other parts of the country. These children lived in close proximity to each other, facilitating the spread of disease.
Furthermore, this administration found it unnecessary to inoculate these children against the normal childhood diseases the same way it requires citizen children to be inoculated before starting school. Is this another Obama political priority where he is willing to sacrifice the health and well-being of American citizens (our children, in this case) to gain minority-voter support?
