Democrat Michelle Nunn leads Republican David Perdue by a point in a new poll on the U.S. Senate race in Georgia, giving Democrats hope they could stem losses elsewhere by picking up the seat of retiring GOP Sen. Saxby Chambliss.
Ms. Nunn leads Mr. Perdue, 46 percent to 45 percent, in the WRBL News 3/Ledger-Enquirer/PMB poll. It has a margin of error of 2.49 percent, but it is the second poll in as many days to show Ms. Nunn, the daughter of former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn, with a small lead.
Libertarian Amanda Swafford takes 6 percent in the poll. If no candidate can crack 50 percent next month, it will head to a runoff, where the outcome is uncertain — especially considering the fact that the balance of the Senate could hinge on the outcome of such a contest.
