WALDORF, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a fire that caused $1 million in damage to a gun shop and range was arson.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire at Fred’s Sports in Waldorf was reported about 4:30 a.m. Monday. About 35 firefighters from several departments brought the two-alarm fire under control in about 30 minutes. There were no injuries.

Officials say the fire was arson and the shop appeared to have been burglarized before the fire was discovered.

Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are helping the shop owner secure the building and take inventory of the remaining merchandise.
