The U.K.’s Daily Mail is hiring former CNN host Piers Morgan as its U.S. editor-at-large for the tabloid’s website.
Mr. Morgan is expected to write several times each week for MailOnline, “bringing his own experience and perspective to bear on the big U.S. stories of the moment,” the paper said.
“BREAKING NEWS: I have a new job,” Mr. Morgan tweeted Tuesday morning, similar to his February tweet, “BREAKING NEWS: I am no longer a @CNN employee,” after the network cancelled “Piers Morgan Live” amid years of poor ratings.
The Daily Mail reports that Mr. Morgan is also shopping for new television ventures in the U.S.
“I am very excited to take on the role of Editor-at-Large at MailOnline, which has become the most successful and dynamic platform in the world of news,” he said in a statement. “As Editor-at-Large I plan on breaking down the biggest stories that matter to Americans and analyzing them in a way that will generate discussion and create debate.”
Martin Clarke, publisher and editor-in-chief of MailOnline said Mr. Morgan “has vast experience as an editor and presenter and certainly knows how to generate conversation and create debate so we’re delighted that he will be joining us as our first ever Editor-at-Large.”
