HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) — Police say a 40-year-old man was hit by a car and killed while crossing a street in Hyattsville.

Prince George’s County police say Oscar Amaya of northwest Washington was hit by a van around 8:45 p.m. Friday night at the intersection of Ager Road and East-West Highway. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. The driver of the van stayed on the scene and wasn’t hurt.

Police say Amaya was trying to cross Ager Road when he was hit and did not use a crosswalk.
