ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - After waiting years to get out of the hotel business, it took the Alexandria City Council hours of deliberation to make the deal happen.

In a 4-3 vote Tuesday, the council voted to go with Southern Hospitality Group over Windfeel Properties in the sale of the Alexander Fulton Hotel.

The Town Talk reports (https://townta.lk/1zXpTkP ) Windfeel has been managing the Fulton since September 2013.

Southern Hospitality officials say The Fulton would undergo improvements and be operated as a Holiday Inn.

The plan calls for millions of dollars of renovations to the downtown hotel, which was built in the 1980s.
