New York City officials said early Wednesday the remains of a woman who recently arrived from West Africa have tested negative for Ebola.

The New York Times reports the unnamed woman, who arrived from Guinea 18 days before her death from an apparent heart attack — putting her within the 21-day incubation period for Ebola — had not exhibited symptoms of the viral disease that has killed about 5,000 abroad. Nonetheless, they tested her body for the virus out of “an abundance of caution.”

First responders pronounced the women dead Tuesday afternoon after her cardiac arrest at a hair salon, African Queen Hair Braiding, in Brooklyn.

The Times reports that at least one responder in a hazmat suit could be seen walking in and out of the building.
